Dear Mount Gilead Family,
I'm so excited to begin my tenure in the Mount Gilead Schools as Superintendent. In the short time span transitioning to the role I've been impressed with the pride that runs deep within the school community. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many staff, students and community members.
My wife Elizabeth and I are excited to be moving into the community and establishing roots here in Mount Gilead. Todd Whitaker says, "It's people, not programs that determine the quality of schools". I couldn't agree more. Relationships matter. As your Superintendent, I pledge the following:
- I'll make it about the kids
- I'll get to know the community and be visible at school functions and within the community
- I'll listen and welcome input
- I'll work with our great staff to "stack the deck" in favor of our students
- I'll honor the Mount Gilead traditions and values
I've spent 21 years in education at Pickerington Local School District. I started my career teaching Biology and coaching football. I've served roles as a Dean of Students, HS Assistant Principal, HS Principal, Director of Human Resources, and Assistant Superintendent. Of all the roles I've filled, I enjoyed being a High School Principal of a building that had 1600 students and over 150 staff members the most. The role as a HS Principal allowed me to work closely with our staff and students and get to know them on a personal level. The important work behind school improvemebnt initiatives was closely tied to doing what is best for our students. My goal was to know each student and staff member as an individual. The personal connection to the role is what drives me. I look forward to building the same relationships with our students and staff in MG as Superintendent.
Mouint Gilead is a special place and I know that the school system is an extension of the community and I'll work with our staff to make it the very best we can, so collectively, every stakeholder can be proud of our MG School District and the opportunities we provide to our kids! When we meet, please don't hestitate to introduce yourself or reach out to me if I can ever be of assistance.
